James Dallas Harris, 85, passed from this world on Monday March 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 25th, 1939, son of Dallas and Ruby Harris born in West Virginia. Spending his younger years in West Virginia, then his later youth in Trenton, New Jersey. He was a member of the US Air Force stationed in Texas where he met his wife Diana K Harris. They resided in Trenton, New Jersey where they had four children. They relocated to Columbia, Kentucky in 1974. James was a loving father and husband. He raised his children with the highest morals and loving acceptance of all around them. He set an exemplary example of how one should live their lives by demonstrating love for family above all, a strong work ethic, and a caring heart. James was employed at IMO industries for thirty-nine years where he was the head of engineering. He also helped establish the prestigious NMRA (National Motorcycle Racing Association) where he held numerous positions including director.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dallas and Ruby Harris, one sibling, Rose Ann Clair, and his beloved son James Brian Harris. He leaves the following family members, wife Diana K Harris, three daughters, Donna Marie Sandusky (David), Kimberley Lynn Slaven (Wes), Michelle Rene Matney (Doug). 7 Grandchildren, Tyler Sandusky (Dezirae), Colton Matney (McKinsey), Kyle Sandusky (Morgan), Alexandria McGaha (Tyler), Logan Sandusky (BreAnna), Quentin Slaven (Tiana), Sydney Slaven (Mason), and 8 great grandkids, who he adored. Two siblings, Elaine Harris Nelson (Dave), and Hubert Harris. A host of nieces of nephews. He also leaves his beloved dog Max.
As per his wishes, James will be cremated, and a private memorial service will be held for family and close friends at a later date.
