James Hassel Obituary
He was born on March 22, 1940, in Avon Lake, Ohio. After high school,
James enlisted in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving his country
for over four years. He later worked at the Cleveland Electric Illuminating
Company until his retirement. James was a hardworking, blue-collar
Clevelander known for his big heart and kind personality.
One of his greatest joys was coaching and cheering on his children
and grandchildren at their various activities.
James is survived by his devoted and beloved wife of 59 years,
Mary Ann Hassel (nee Locke); children, James (Amy) Hassel, Todd Hassel,
Annmarie (Bob) Wallace, and Monica (Chris) Mazur; grandchildren, Tatem,
Cullen, Evelyn, Griffin, Riley, Payton, and Katelyn; and siblings, Dave, Kathy,
Connie, Mark, and Marcia. He was preceded in death by his parents,
Earl and Clara (nee Huber) Hassel; and siblings, Alberta, Dick, and Marie.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 26, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm
at Misencik Funeral Home, 36363 Detroit Rd., Avon, Ohio. A Funeral Mass
will be held on Monday, January 27, at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church,
32929 Lake Rd., Avon Lake, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent
to Hospice of the Western Reserve or Muscular Dystrophy Association of Northeast Ohio.

I always loved visiting my mom´s house because that meant I got to see Jim & Mary Ann! Our dog Maggie would get so excited knowing we´d be seeing Jim! So excited that she would pull me out of my mom´s front door and pull me/ almost drag me to Jim´s driveway where he´s be sitting waiting patiently with a pocket full of doggy cookies! It just took Jim once to win over Maggie´s heart. I will never forget the laughter it brought to all of us! Jim would laugh that Maggie almost bit off his fingers while enjoying the snacks! They quickly became friends. So much that upon returning to mom´s house after our walk, she sat on the floor staring out the front door at Jim until she fell asleep. We loved Jim and his kindness. He will be missed.
