James Donald Henderson "Don", of Waynesville, passed away on February 21, 2022 at Mission Hospital after a brief illness.

Don was born on November 4, 1947 to Reverend Harvey and Edna Henderson in Pensacola, FL. He attended Ernest Ward High School in Walnut Hill, FL and Free Will Baptist Bible College in Gallatin, TN. He was also a devoted member of Dellwood Baptist Church in Waynesville, NC.

Don was a butcher by trade but most recently worked as a bail bondsman.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his daughter Angela Renea Gordon and his grandson Thomas Allen Gordon.

Don is survived by his wife of 22 years, Louise Henderson; daughter, Lee Ann Grissom (Karla); son, James Donald Henderson, Jr. (Paige); stepsons, Charles Cromer (Destiny), Dietrich Schaffer, and Christopher Schaffer (Heather); stepdaughter, Michelle Van Driessche (Arthur), twin brother Doug Henderson (Cathy), as well as sisters Myra Etterling (Blaine), Carol Caine (Victor), Merle Jordan (Tim), and Paula Gilbert (Gene). Don is also loved and missed by 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Don loved the Lord, his Harley, his family, and his faithful dog Penny.

A celebration of life will be held this summer.
