James F. Herrington, 86, departed this life on Friday, June 16, 2023. He was born on November 8, 1936, in Gloster, Mississippi to James Herd Herrington and Eva Williams Herrington.
During his working years he installed flooring throughout the United States and for area churches. When he wasn’t installing flooring, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was a member of Gospel Fellowship Church in Salado and faithfully served our country in the Army.
He and Edith Jacqueline McKenzie were married on April 2, 1960, in Hurricane Creek, Mississippi.
James is survived by his sons, James Fletcher (Angela) Herrington, Jr. of Brandon, Mississippi, Troy (Dianna) Herrington, of Southside, and Robert (Yvonne) Herrington, of Southside; his daughter, Jamie Herrington, of Cave City; his sister, Maureen Whittington, of Clinton, Louisiana; his grandchildren, Heather, Tyler, Cassie, Laurel, and Steve; thirteen great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, five sisters, and other family members.
Funeral Service will be Monday, June 19, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Doty Southside Funeral Service, 2180 Batesville Blvd, Southside with Bro. Ronald Metheny and Bro. Troy Herrington officiating.
Burial will follow the service in the Alderbrook Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Herrington, James Herrington, Jr., Tyler Herrington, Dewitt Bradley, Robert Calderon, and Fred Stewart.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Clay Crafton and Grover Pitts.
Visitation will be Monday, June 19, 2023, beginning at 12:00 p.m. and continuing until service time.
