James Anthony Herrman, 68, passed away peacefully December 7, 2025, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, in Wichita, Kansas. He was born June 12, 1957, at Nouasseur Air Depot, Casablanca, Morocco, North Africa to Linus & Deloris (Stanley) Herrman. He married Nancy Arquette November 26, 1977, in Glendale, Arizona. She passed away October 18, 2001.

James loved the beauty and wonder of the sea. He made a career working for United States Navy before retiring as Staff Sergeant. This provided him the opportunity to live all over the world before settling in Great Bend in 1996. He was a proud member of the American Legion and served as past president for the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He loved the outdoors and finding time to hunt game or cast a line fishing.

Survivors include sisters, Rebecca Miller and her husband Don of Phoenix, Ariz., Cynthia Degenhardt and her husband Raymond of Great Bend; brothers, William "Bill" Herrman and his wife Carol, Stanley Herrman and his wife Sherri, all of Great Bend; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 23 years; sisters, Dorothy Marie Andersen, Elizabeth Schenkel; nephew, Brian Miller, and brother-in-law Duane Andersen

Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Bryant Funeral Home with Pastor Micah Powell presiding. Burial will follow at Golden Belt Memorial Park with honors provided by United States Navy Honor Guard.
