Joan Herrman, a cherished mother grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on September 26, 2025, at the age of 93. Joan was a pillar of the community and a 75-year resident of Mt. Kisco, NY.
She was born on June 25, 1932, in the heart of Chatham, NY; Joan entered this world as the daughter of the late Paul V. and Helen K (Young) Stark.
After graduating from high school, Joan's insatiable thirst for knowledge propelled her to earn a master's degree. She did her undergrad at SUNY Cobleskill and received her Master's at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry. Her academic pursuits seamlessly transitioned into a lifelong career as a dedicated Agricultural/Horticultural Teacher for BOCES in Yorktown Heights, NY. There, Joan sowed seeds of curiosity and growth in the minds of countless students and special needs students, outliving her tenure in the lessons they carried forward.
Joan married her soul mate, William J. Herrman, on June 14, 1952 in Newburgh, NY. Together, they cultivated a family and a legacy of love that lasted throughout their 63 years of marriage and would flourish through generations.
Her beloved husband William predeceased her in 2015, as well her dear son Billy Herrman in 1985 and her two siblings Arthur Stark and Ruth Anderson.
Joan's legacy will continue to bloom through her three loving children; Steven P. Herrman, Joanne K. Mallon and her husband Gene, and Kathy R. Hartshorn and her husband George as well as her eight cherished grandchildren; Jimmy Mallon (Kaitlyn), Kelly Mallon (Matt Simpson), Katie Bartolomeo (Mark),, Travis Hartshorn (Rebecca), Samantha Hartshorn (Tom), Dr. George Hartshorn (Brittani), Dawn Parker and Elizabeth Herrman (Matt) and eight treasured great-grandchildren will forever carry her teachings and tender memories in their hearts.
