Glenn Carbone Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Joseph J Smith Funeral Home Inc on Mar. 14, 2026.
Glenn R. Carbone of Mahopac, NY passed away on March 12, 2026 at the age of 79. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 20, 1946, the son of Roland and Sophia Carbone.

Glenn enlisted in the Army on June 1, 1967 at age 20 and served during the Vietnam War. During his service in the military, he earned multiple decorations such as the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, a marksmanship badge, and the Overseas Service Bar. He eventually became a member of the local VFW and lived the rest of his life as a very proud veteran.

After his time in the Army, Glenn had a successful career as an electrical engineer working for AT&T. On July 21, 1990, he married Debra J. Coumbe in Peekskill, NY. They had a full life with each other; raising two sons, and they loved to travel. Besides traveling within the country, especially Glenn's favorite state Florida, they got to travel around Europe and to Mo'orea and Bora Bora in the French Polynesian Islands.

Glenn did his best to enjoy life, purchasing a Hummer and even joining a Hummer Club. He was tech-savvy and still loved playing with gadgets and toys in his later years. Boating was another one of his hobbies, and one story he loved to tell was about a time when his boat got stuck out on Lake Mahopac. While he was stranded, a jet ski rider noticed and helped tow him to shore.

Glenn is survived by his beloved wife Debbie, and son Richard Carbone and his wife Peggy, and Coulter D. Young IV and his wife Jeannine. He is also survived by his sisters Susan Oderifero, Theresa Duala, Christine Koebley, as well as grandchildren Kyle, Anthony, Gabby and Grace.

All are welcome to attend a visitation on Tuesday, March 17th from 4-8 pm at the Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 18th at 10 am at St. John the Evangelist Church in Mahopac with interment to follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Putnam Valley, NY.
