Carl Morse Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Burroughs Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Mar. 13, 2026.
Carl D. Morse age 73, of Murrells Inlet SC; formerly of Westbrookville and Putnam Valley, NY passed away peacefully at home on March 12, 2026.

Carl was born on August 4, 1952, in Middletown, NY to Emerson A. II and Joan Morse.

Carl lived a life defined by hard work and loyalty. He was deeply devoted to family, friends and the values of marriage.

In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. His past time in later years became his passion - GOLF! On Jan. 27, 2022, he shot his first and only hole in one. He loved his ski trips out west with the Prolink business friends who became "brothers". The snowmobile adventures to Maine and Vermont, with so many good friends, gave lasting memories and great times.

Carl worked at the family business, EA Morse & Co. Inc., from 1967 to 2021, ending his career as Vice Present. He was a member of the Westbrookville Fire Department from 1970-1982 serving as treasurer and first assistant chief. He also served on the Town of Mamakating Republican Committee and the Westbrookville Cemetery Board of Directors.

Carl is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine, his son Adam and Jennifer Morse, Erik and significant other Sarah, and daughter Amanda and Dave Franck. He is also survived by his grandchildren Andrew, Brandon, Kaitlyn and Abby Morse, Hunter and Shawn Franck; and one great granddaughter Oaklynn Morse.

Carl is also survived by his siblings: Emerson III and Peggy Morse; Tom Morse and beloved partner Debbie Briggs; his Aunt Candice Depew, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and sister Kelly and brother-in-law Craig.

In addition to his family, Carl shared a special bond with neighborhood daughter Kristi and Bryan Oshiro, and especially Domi.

Carl will be remembered by his warm smile, being a fun guy, liking the game of pool, and talking and telling stories to someone he just met.

Services will be held Sunday March 15, 2026, at Burroughs Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 3558 Old Kings Highway, Murrells Inlet, SC. 29576 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. with a prayer devotion at 5 p.m.

Later services will be held 3/23/26 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home Inc., 130 Highland Ave. Middletown, NY 10940 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
