Sandra Marrero Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel & Cremation Center - Murray on Mar. 11, 2026.
Sandra Victoria Marrero (known as Nan to many), 70, passed away in Sandy, Utah, on March 4, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.

Sandra was born on January 7, 1956, to Ismael and Adela Marrero in New York. She was the second oldest out of six children and was raised in the Bronx. Her upbringing defined much of who she was - loyal, strong, brave, and loving. As one of the eldest children, she fiercely carried out the responsibility of protecting her siblings. It was a duty she took to heart and spoke of often - she would do anything for her family.

Sandra was a single mother who worked hard to provide for her daughter, Erika, meeting every challenge with determination and devotion. She went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Business Leadership from Mercy College in 1998 - a testament to her resilience - and built a meaningful career in provider services, where she formed friendships that lasted a lifetime.

That same year, following her family's gradual migration from New York, Sandra made the leap from city life to the mountains of Utah. It was exactly the kind of choice that made her who she was: family first, always. Erika and her two children followed in 2003, completing the circle.

Sandra's faith guided her life and was the quiet thread woven through everything she did. She never let anyone leave her home without a blessing. As a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, she helped make rosaries for the community, assisted with baptisms, and supported the church's donation events - finding peace and purpose in every act of service.

Sandra's greatest happiness was simple: being with her people. She lived as a devoted sister, mother, and grandmother, and the space she leaves behind is immeasurable. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the gift of knowing and loving her. Que Dios te cuide, Nan.

Sandra was preceded in death by her father and mother. She is survived by her daughter, Erika; her siblings, Nilda, Gladys, Linda, Ismael Jr., and Haydee; her grandchildren, June and Alyssa; and one great-grandchild on the way.

Per Sandra's wishes, a cremation has been arranged through Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Homes & Cremation Center. A gathering to celebrate Sandra's life will be held in place of a formal funeral at a later date.
