Michael Maggio Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cargain Funeral Homes Inc. - Mahopac on Mar. 13, 2026.
Michael Anthony Maggio, a cherished companion, beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on December 22, 1954, in the Bronx, NY, to the late Joseph and Theresa (Bennett) Maggio, Michael's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, family and faith.

Michael grew up in the Bronx, where he attended Cardinal Hayes High School, forming friendships and memories of playing sports and enjoying his youth. His pursuit of knowledge led him to Iona College, where he graduated with a degree that would pave the way for a successful career in business. Michael's professional life included working as a Telecommunications Manager at both IBM and AT&T.

Family was the cornerstone of Michael's life. He is survived by his loving companion, Maryann and his children: Michael Maggio (Jill), Lisa Schlosser (Ben), Nicole Maggio, and Joseph Maggio (Alyssa). He was most proud of his grandchildren, Rocco, Chase, Grayson, Parker, Beckett and Quinn and he loved the moments he got to spend time with them. Michael also leaves behind his siblings, Joseph Maggio, Peter Maggio, Maureen Zinzer (Chris) and Tara Kraus (Rudy), as well as his brother-in-law, Dave Ritchie. He was preceded in death by his sister, Cathy Ritchie.

A devout Christian, Michael's faith was a guiding force throughout his life. His belief in the goodness of people and the love of God was unwavering. An avid sports fan, Michael's enthusiasm for the New York Jets and New York Yankees was strong and he shared it with his family. His love for visiting the beach when he lived in North Carolina was special to him and reflected his appreciation for life's simple pleasures.

Michael's legacy is one of unwavering love, steadfast faith and dedication to his family and friends. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of those who knew him. As we say goodbye to a man who lived with purpose and passion, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to inspire us to live with great love in all we do.

Family and friends are welcome to gather at the church prior to Mass.

A Mass of Christian Burial to honor and celebrate Michael Anthony Maggio's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 221 East Lake Boulevard, Mahopac, NY.

Following the Mass, Michael will be escorted to his final resting place and interred at Ballard Barrett Cemetery, 526 Route 6N, Mahopac, NY.
