Mr. James (Jim) Hills

James E. Hills, 77, of Zephyrhills, FL, formerly of Mason, MI, passed away peacefully on September 15th, 2020 at the Baldomero Lopez Veterans Home in Land 'O Lakes, Florida. Jim graduated from Mason High School in 1961, served for six years in the United States Marine Corps Reserves, earned a Bachelor's Degree from Spring Arbor College, and retired from General Motors after 30 years to a home in Big Bay, Michigan. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Lena, sister Lorna (Lewis) Hanley and brothers Dennis and Douglas (Mary). He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Darlene Droscha Hills; daughter Cynthia (Kevin) Finch, son Troy (Rebecca), granddaughters Samantha Finch, Megan and Katelyn Hills; brothers Harold J. (Joyce) and Robert (Patricia); many nieces and nephews; step-granddaughters and their families. Jim was a devoted husband and father, and loved his family deeply. He had a kind, generous and forgiving spirit. Jim always had a song in his heart, and to those closest to him, he was known for his beautiful voice and cheerful whistle. He loved hunting, fishing, and the outdoors, golfing, carpentry, and gardening especially raising watermelons. The family will hold a grave side service at a later date, and asks that any donations made in Jim's memory go to Bay Cliff Health Camp, PO Box 310, Big Bay, MI 49808-0310.
