James F. "Jim" Hobin

James F. Hobin, 75, a lifelong resident of Framingham, died suddenly, Thursday December 4, 2025. Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Thomas H. & Mary Elizabeth (Farrell) Hobin, and the beloved husband of Kathleen A. (Durkin) Hobin.

Raised and educated in Framingham, Jim was a 1968 graduate of Framingham North High School, where he was the goalie for the hockey team. He went on to graduate from Merrimack College as an economics major. Right out of college, Jim went to work in the family insurance business. He owned a successful seafood restaurant in Maine, and worked in the IT department of State Street Bank as a Systems Architect.
When his children were young, Jim coached his kids in the youth soccer program in Milford. A talented artist, he loved sailing, a round of golf, and was a huge New England Patriots fan. In recent years, time spent with grandchildren was what brought a smile to his face.

Along with his wife Kathy, Jim is survived by his children, Matthew & his wife Amanda of Framingham, and Jennifer Daigneault & her husband Mark of Quincy, his grandchildren, Jack and Emilia Hobin, and Jamie Daigneault, his sister Patricia Cochrane of Natick, and his nieces and nephews, Heather Spurling & her husband Dan, Michael Cochrane & his wife Jessica of Natick, Erin Cochrane-Coca & her husband Jeferson Coca of Natick, Katlyn Anctil, Emily Smith, Melissa Durkin, Ryan Griffin, Nicholas Smith, Thomas Smith, Michael Durkin and Sean Durkin.
Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Hobin.

Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Jim's life by gathering for a time of visitation in the Norton, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 53 Beech St. Framingham on Monday, December 15th from 10AM-12PM. A prayer service will begin at 12 noon. Interment will be private.
