James Eric “Hokey” Winchester age 60 of Pine Knot, Kentucky passed from this life on Saturday, August 30, 2025 in Hazard, Kentucky.
He was born on March 23, 1965 in Muncie, Indiana to the late Ottis Winchester and Helen (Roberts) Winchester. In addition to his parents, Hokey is preceded in death by his brothers, Gary Roberts and Max Winchester; and a sister, Lisa Taylor.
Surviving family include his sons, Landon Winchester of Pine Knot, Kentucky and Jordan Winchester (and Heather) of Hazard, Kentucky; daughters, Kasie Winchester of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky, Erika Winchester of Pine Knot, Kentucky, and Olivia Winchester of Pine Knot, Kentucky; grandchildren, Lyric Abbott, Aria Winchester, Logan Fry, Bryson Winchester, Brody Caudill, Adrian Winchester, Peyton Wilson, Benjamin Winchester, and Addison Issacs; and a sister, Linda Taulbee of Indiana.
Hokey was a vivid outdoorsman. He enjoyed going fishing, four-wheeling, and camping. But above all things, Hokey loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Braxton King officiating. Burial to follow in the Angel Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday after 11:00 am until service time.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the funeral home to assist with remaining expenses. Contributions can be made on the website (under the resources tab), by calling the office, 606-354-9100, or in person at the funeral home.
