James House

1926 - 2025

James Loyd House, 99, passed away on Monday evening, September 15, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice in Tupelo. He was born on January 8, 1926, in Aberdeen to Joseph Otto and Clearsie Stella Swinney House and was a lifelong resident of Aberdeen. He volunteered to serve in the Navy during World War II in 1944 and fought in the Battle of Okinawa. The ship was the USS De Grasse which was a transport ship of troops, nurses, equipment, trucks, and supplies. After the war, he returned to graduate from Aberdeen High School. He worked at Senter's Drug Store for several years and later for Texas Eastern Pipeline for 25 years. Retiring at the early age of 58, he spent time to enjoy traveling with his wife, Blondie Jean Floyd and they enjoyed several trips across the United States and Canada.

His life was full of serving others. He was a deacon and elder at the Aberdeen Church of Christ for a total of 60 years. He enjoyed woodworking in his shop and at times he liked to draw. James like to stay fit by walking and exercising. He loved spending time with his family. After moving to the Garden Suites in Aberdeen, he stayed busy calling his friends wishing them happy birthdays, anniversaries, and checking to see if they were well.

A service to celebrate James' life will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 4 p.m. at the Aberdeen Church of Christ with visitation from 2 p.m. until the service hour. Jonathan Hagar and John Allmond will officiate, and a private family committal service will follow at Oddfellows Rest Cemetery.

James is survived by daughter, Anita Llewellyn (Bob); son, Jim House (Anna); grandchildren, Anderson Llewellyn, Liza Whittington, Heather House, Lindsey Plummer, and Morgan May; 10 great grandchildren; two brothers, Clinton House (Betty) and Roy House; and a special friend for several years, Sara Gardner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his twin brothers, Alton and Elton.

A special thanks is given to Garden Suites of Aberdeen for all the loving care and support they gave our father during the 4 years he lived there.

Pallbearers will be Dwight McComb, Todd Wilemon, John McArthur, Ernie Allmond, Ricky Bourland, and Jimmy Lee Lusk.

Memorials may be made to the Aberdeen Church of Christ, the American Cancer Society, or to the Pine Vale Children's Home.
