James Terrell Houston, 50, of Memphis, Texas, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025. Cremation and arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis. James was born in Lubbock, Texas, on September 14, 1975 to Leanora Houston McNeal. On April 15, 2005, he met the love of his life, Joy Shaw. He lived in Arlington, Texas, before moving to Fort Worth in 2011. In 2015, James and Joy made Memphis their home, where he remained a resident until his passing. James had a tender heart and a generous spirit. He worked as a caregiver for many years and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He also worked in maintenance at the local motel. He found joy in life's simple pleasures-collecting rocks, riding his bike around town, playing video games, listening to music, and singing. Known for his sense of humor, James brought laughter to those around him. He was a proud Dallas Cowboys fan and cherished every moment spent with his family. James also loved his late Pitbull, Babygirl, and Late Husky, Princess. James is survived by his mother, Leanora McNeal; his wife, Joy Shaw; his sister, Andrea McNeal; several aunts and uncles; and two godchildren. He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and the love he gave so freely to those around him.
