James Thomas "Tom" Hudson

Mr. James Thomas “Tom” Hudson, 83, of Cusseta, GA, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, at St. Francis Emory Healthcare. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM on Monday, December 15, 2025, in the chapel of Way-Watson Funeral Home in Buena Vista, GA, with Rev. Mike Webb officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time beginning at 2:00PM. Burial will be private.

Mr. Hudson was born in Renfroe, GA, to Charlie Sam and Vivian Martin Hudson on October 7, 1942. He worked at Ft. Benning in civil service as a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Hudson was a very caring man and a good provider. He was an excellent father, husband, and companion. A jokester, he had a sense of humor and told the best stories. Mr. Hudson loved tinkering on tractors. He played guitar and “Candy Kisses” was often requested. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Melba Hudson, a brother, Lloyd Hudson, and a sister, Sandra Gardner.

He is survived by his companion of 24 years, Dorothy McCall of Cusseta, GA; by his children, Tammy Carden of Columbus, GA, and Kendall Hudson of Griffin, GA; by a sister, Patricia Breland of Cusseta, GA; a brother-in-law, Gary Gardner of Cusseta, GA; three grandchildren, Christopher Carden, Amanda Terry, and Cecelia Melba Hudson; a niece, Sandy Sproles and other extended family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
