James Willard Huffman, 85, of Fairmont, West Virginia passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at his residence in Dover, Delaware. He was born on July 28,1940, the son of the late Clifton and Lily (Starn) Huffman.

James was a graduate of East Fairmont High School. He was a maintenance machinist at Westinghouse, which then became Philips Lighting. James was active in the boy scouts at Meadowdale UM Church, when his son was young. He also assisted in coaching little league baseball and IUE pop warner football. James was active in the North Central Emmaus Community and the Kairos prison ministry. He went on two mission trips. One trip was to help build a parsonage after hurricane Katrina, and the other was a humanitarian tour to Russia. James was a certified lay servant, where he served the Catawba and Meadowdale Churches. He also sang in a praise choir called Psalm 150. He loved to read his bible, paint, fish, hunt, and in his younger years, he was in both a bowling and a softball league.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Carolyn Huffman; one son, Thomas (Jennifer) Huffman; one daughter, Deborah Comstock; one brother, Richard (Sandy) Huffman; one sister Bonnie (Larry) Collier; five grandchildren, Brian (Leighanna) Huffman, Justin Huffman, Andrew Huffman, Clara Comstock, and James Comstock; and one great grandchild, Lily Huffman.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law Stewart Comstock.

Friends and family can gather at The Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont, West Virginia, on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm with Pastor Carl Radcliff presiding.
