James Anthony Jacobs, lovingly known to family and friends as "Funzie," completed his earthly journey on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Regional One Center in Memphis, Tennessee.

Per his wishes, he will be cremated, and a memorial service is scheduled for 7 PM Thursday September 25, 2025, with visitation from 5 PM until time of service at Trinity Baptist Church, 1210 Tate Road, Bolivar Tennessee 38008.

Born on August 4, 1960, in Florence, Alabama, Funzie was the cherished son of the late James Wickliff Jacobs and Dorothy Frances Cole Jacobs. At the age of six, he moved with his family to Middleton, Tennessee, a community that would forever be his home. He went to Middleton High School and later built a career in the Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning industry, where he worked until his retirement.

In September of 2005, Funzie married the love of his life, Amanda Watkins Jacobs. Together they shared twenty beautiful years, filled with laughter, devotion, and a quiet contentment in the simple joys of life. Their love was evident to all who knew them, and their home was always a place of warmth, laughter, and kindness.

A man of simple faith and a Christian at heart, Funzie lived a life of caring generosity. Known for his gentle spirit and giving nature, he was always willing to lend a hand, never seeking recognition but always leaving an impression of kindness. In earlier years, he enjoyed playing the drums and guitar, often filling the room with music and song, a talent that reflected the joy within him.

Funzie's big heart extended to every creature he encountered. He adored his pets, and faithfully cared for strays that crossed his path. Daily, he could be found calling out to his "ladies ," the deer that gathered near his yard. His compassion for animals was a true reflection of his tender soul.

In his leisure time, Funzie loved being by the pool, staying active and fit through exercise, and following his favorite sports.

While his loving presence will be deeply missed by family, friends, and his beloved animals, it brings comfort to know that Funzie has now received complete healing and eternal peace. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and quiet strength will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

Those left to cherish dear memories include his devoted wife, Amanda Watkins Jacobs, two sisters, Shelia Cox and Judy James, a special niece, Mandy Forman, and great nephew, Drew Forman, along with a host of family and friends.
