Lieutenant Commander James "Jim" Richad Daws, age 88, of Collinsville, MS, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 12, 2025. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Jim honorably served his country in the United States Navy, where he built a long and distinguished career before retiring. Jim found happiness in hunting, caring for his land, and working hard at whatever task was before him. He was also an avid reader who valued knowledge and reflection. He also stood firmly beside his wife, Billie, through every chapter of life, and he always enjoyed family gatherings and outings, where his presence will be greatly missed.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Billie Cecilia Daws; his daughter, Lisa Carol Daws; grandchildren, Kristie Lynn Daws, Lynda Michelle Daws, Billie Theresa Wilkins, Allisa Laureta Daws, Richard Ian Neal, Serena Danielle Daws; and great grandchildren Cecilia Melinda Daws and Caroline Faye Traweek.
He was preceded in death by his son, James Richard Daws, Jr.; his parents, William L. Daws and Omay Mae Daws; his siblings; and his grandson, Sean Michael Wilkins.
Jim will be remembered for his unwavering support for his family, his service to his country, and his joyful spirit that brought laughter and warmth to all who knew him.
