James “Jim” T. Dunkle, 73, of Logansport, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo.

Born on April 27, 1950 in Logansport, Jim is the son of the late Thomas Dunkle and Fayfern (Plummer) Kendall.  On August 4, 1996, in Logansport, Jim married the love of his life, Sharon E. Jeroski who survives.

Jim graduated from Logansport High School in 1968. He then served his country in the United States Navy.  After returning, Jim worked for LMU for 40 years.  He was an avid train enthusiast, a member of Fairview Baptist Church and a Bears and Packers fan.  Jim enjoyed camping and socializing with the morning crew at McDonalds and always looked forward to spending time with his family. 

Surviving along with his wife Sharon, are two sons, Robert (Kim Henry) Achor of Logansport, IN, Scott (Beth) Achor of Russiaville, IN; daughter, Linda Barlow of Logansport, IN; brother, Dave (Linda) Dunkle of Logansport, IN; two grandsons, Zachary (Kiera) Achor of Camden, IN, Christopher (Vanessa) Root of Logansport, IN; four granddaughters, Coree (Eric) Lord of Tipton, IN, Tifanee Achor of Kokomo, IN, Santana Achor of Logansport, IN, Sydney Root of Kokomo, IN; three great grandsons, Crew Achor, Landon Root, Lucas Root; six great granddaughters, Scarlett Lord, Hazel Achor, Amaya Achor, Lyla Lord, Lainey Root, Ella Dishner; several nieces and nephew; sister in law, Sandy (Kenny) Meacham of Kokomo, IN; two brother in laws, John (Suzy) Gibson of Logansport, IN, Mark (Sue) Gibson of Kokomo, IN.

Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Rupe.

A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Sherwood officiating.  A burial with Full Military Graveside Rites will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport. 

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday.
