James "Jim" Eugene Puertzer, 82, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at his home surrounded by family.

Jim was born in Evanston, Indiana on November 4, 1942 to the late Gerhard and Hulda Viola (Racine) Puertzer. He honorably served in the United States Army. Jim retired from Sears Corp. as a service tech after 45 years of service. He was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served as a elder, was active in the choir and was a member of the bowling league. Jim was an avid big game hunter and fisherman. He loved his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren and great grandson.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Beth Puertzer; grandchildren, Alik James Puertzer (Skylar) and Jeffrey David Douglas; great grandson, Warren James Puertzer; sister, Wilma Jane Gibson; and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Linda Sue (Hart) Puertzer; his parents; and brother, Calvin Puertzer.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 4, 2025 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1925 Volkman Rd., Evansville, IN 47725 with Pastor Kirk Horstmeyer officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 12:00 noon until 4:00 pm on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 and again from 9:00 am until service time on Monday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
