James Edward Jones Jr. was born on December 25, 1946, in Beaver Falls Pennsylvania, graduating from Beaver Falls High School. He was an avid bowler and softball player. Jim was a loving father and husband and he particularly enjoyed spending time with his grandson and great grandchildren. Jim was admired by many friends and family members and he was a great role model with his hardworking nature and willingness to lend a helping hand. At the young age of 17, Jim showed his dedication to our country by joining the Marines and was willing to sacrifice his life for our freedom.

Jim was stationed stateside as well as locations in Viet Nam, Japan and Germany. He served nine years In the Marine Corp from 1964 -1973, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He then served in the Army for eleven years from 1974 - 1985, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. During his service, he studied Criminal Justice at LSCC overseas.

Jim was united in marriage to Akiko Uemura in Hiroshima Japan on April 19, 1968.

Jim went on to have a successful career in law enforcement. He worked first at the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections for 19 years from 1993 – 2004 where he promoted to the rank of Captain. He then went on to work for the Wood County Sherrif’s Department in West Virginia, promoting to the rank of Captain.

His patriotism never wavered even after his military service as he participated in 20 Midwest Honor Flight missions, welcoming home his brothers and sisters in the military as they arrived on their flights back to the United States.

Jim married Linda Dagel Jones on May 25, 2018, and they shared a robust life together until he passed in their home on September 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Together, Jim and Linda enjoyed dancing, camping, fishing on their pontoon boat, music and playing pinochle. They loved to travel, especially their trips to Branson Missouri during Veteran’s Week where they attended military balls and events honoring veterans. They spent their winters in Gulf Shores Alabama and enjoyed the mild temperatures and ocean views.

Jim is survived by his wife Linda, his daughters Melinda Jacobson (Mike) of Tea South Dakota, Margret Lewis of Waverly Ohio, and Dawna Jones (Jeff) of Sacramento California, his son Rich Dagel (Chris) of San Francisco California, his grandson Michael McCluskey (Megan) of Pulaski Pennsylvania and their children Colson and Maddison.

Jim is preceded in death by his mother Cecilia (Kaercher), his father James E. Jones Sr. and former wife Akiko.

Jim fulfilled his final orders reporting to our heavenly father for a final tour with honor. Semper Fidelis - Always Faithful
