James "Jim" W. Pellow

James "Jim" W. Pellow passed away on February 22, 2025, in Collins, Mississippi, at the age of 88. Born on March 13, 1936, in Joplin, Missouri to Roy and Alice (Smith) Pellow. Jim spent his formative years growing up in Houston, Texas until the age of 13 when the family moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Jim honorably served his country for a total of eight years, dedicating four years to the United States Navy and another four to the United States Airforce. His military service was a significant part of his life, shaping the man he became and instilling in him a sense of duty and pride that he carried with him throughout his life.

Following his time in the service, Jim worked diligently in the maintenance department of a hotel chain in Connecticut. His work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident in every task he undertook, earning the respect of his colleagues and contributing to the smooth operation of the establishment.

Beyond his professional achievements, Jim was an avid stamp collector, a hobby that brought him joy and a sense of accomplishment. He also had a great love for reading, exploring various genres and immersing himself in the stories and knowledge that books provided.

He is remembered fondly by his surviving family members, including his daughter Amanda Steel; sisters Ann "Skip" (Rich) Meurer, Barbara (David) Paschke, and Sue Winick, along with his brother Philip Pellow. Jim also leaves behind his step-son Gary Hochderffer and numerous nieces and nephews, including Linda (Dan) Binner, Laurie Patrow, Rick (Paige) Meurer, Lisa (Bryan) Ganter, Kevin (Kylie) Meurer, William (Nancy) Winick, Deana (Kurt) Klosterman, Dawn Smith, Sue Jedlicka, Paul (Kelly) Paschke, and Brian Nordstrom.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his wives Jean and Josie "Earleen," and his niece Ruth Nordstrom

Jim will be buried in Forrest Memorial Gardens in Petal, Mississippi. There will be a Memorial Mass held at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha, MN at a later date.

Jim leaves a legacy of love, dedication, and passion for life that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who carry forward his spirit in their hearts.
