James (Jim) Chester Warzynski, age 82, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 6, 2025. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he moved to Westfield where he grew up on the family farm in the town of Springfield. He attended grade school in a one room school house in Lawrence and graduated high school in Westfield in 1960. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on January 6, 1964 – which he retired from after proudly serving 26 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester (Chet) Warzynski and Elizabeth (Betty) Warzynski, and his sister Beverly (Warzynski) Zimmerman.
He is married to Jeannette (Wilhelmi) Warzynski and between them have 4 children: Kevin (Lisa) Warzynski of Westfield, WI, Wendy (Jeff) Finck of Tampa, FL, Scott (Mechelle Kerns) Warzynski of Columbia, SC, and Craig Warzynski of Howard, WI. He has 12 grandchildren – Brittany (Austin) Bousquet, Adam (Amber) Finck, Cory (Kate) Finck, Jordan (Blake) Powers, Trevor Warzynski, Austin Antoni, Tristan Warzynski, Shealyn Warzynski, Braedon Warzynski, Madalyn Warzynski, Leslie Finck and Kami Llanos. He also has 2 great-grandchildren Aleila and Aidynn, with 2 on the way, due in February and May 2025. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Warzynski of Coloma, WI, his sisters Judy Hackbart (Richard) of Ripon, WI, Charlotte (Glenn) Christofferson of Friendship, WI, and brother-in-law Russell Zimmerman of Friendship, WI, as well as extended family in North Dakota- Wanda, Julie, Jody, and Shane.
When Jim was not spending time with family or fixing things, he was found hunting, fishing, camping, and polka dancing. Like his father, Chet, he served the community as the Fire Chief of Springfield Fire Department and as a First Responder. He was also involved with the Westfield VFW and served on various committees with Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Jim will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Westfield with Father Savio Yerasani officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Town of Springfield with full military honors. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Westfield VFW Post #8718, P.O. Box 142, Westfield, WI 53964.
