James Owen "Jimbo" Staten Jr, born on December 24, 1963, in Warren County, Kentucky, passed away on June 13, 2025, in Bowling Green. Known for his warm heart and gentle spirit, Jimbo’s life was a testament to the love he held for his family and his passions.
Jimbo is survived by his significant other, Kathy Canler, who shared in the joy and laughter of their time together. He was a devoted father to his daughters, Brandy Knight (Trey) and Tabatha Young, along with Daniel Knight (Mary Kate) who brought immense pride and joy to his life. Jimbo's love extended to his grandchildren, Tyler Skipworth (Destiny), Tori Skipworth, Ethan Knight, Jackson Knight, Brady Knight, Kailey Gerteisen, Reese Young, Kyndal Young, and also to his great grandchildren Brantley Skipworth, and Wrenley Skipworth, who will carry his memory in their hearts.
He is also remembered fondly by his siblings, Judy Younger Fortune, Kenny Lewis (Drema), and Cindy Bedwell (Phillip).
Jimbo was preceded in death by his parents, James Staten Sr. and Linda Tinsley Staten, whose guidance and love shaped the man he became. Their legacy lives on through Jimbo and the family he nurtured.
Passionate about UK Basketball and an avid golfer, Jimbo found joy in the thrill of the game and the camaraderie of friends. His vibrant spirit and infectious smile brought light to his gatherings, creating beautiful memories that will be cherished by all who knew him.
A visitation to honor Jimbo will take place on June 19, 2025, at Cone Funeral Home, located at 1510 Campbell Lane, Bowling Green, KY, beginning at 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Following the visitation, a funeral service will commence at 1:00 PM, leading to his final resting place at Fairview Cemetery at 2:30 PM.
Jimbo Staten’s presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends. As we celebrate his life, we remember not just the man he was, but the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the legacy he leaves behind.
