James “Jimmy” Roger Ivers Sr. passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, June 26, 2023, in Jackson, Mississippi. He was 92 years old. The family will receive friends for visitation from 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2023, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Florence City Cemetery.
Jimmy was born on December 10, 1930, to Baynon and Bertha Ivers in Yazoo County, MS. He has lived in the Florence area since 1977 and was a member of Mt. Creek Baptist Church. Jimmy served in the U. S. Army as a Corporal during the Korean Conflict. He loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed wood working in his shop and gardening, he was very artistic. He also enjoyed working the crossword puzzles in the daily newspapers.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Baynon and Bertha Ivers; one brother and one sister. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Ivers of Florence; son, Roger Ivers (Teresa) of Florence; daughter, Debbie Gant of Puckett; stepson, Stan Fulton (Mary) of Florence; stepdaughter, Brenda Kay McCoy (Cary) of Brandon; grandchildren, Amanda Ivers Meyer, Justin Cook, Josh Cook, Jennifer Fulton, and Lindsey Boyte; and 10 great grandchildren.
