James W. Johnson Jr., age 94, of Pecatonica, IL, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Heritage Homes in Watertown, Wisconsin.
James William Johnson Jr., was born on August 23, 1928 in La Crosse, Wisconsin, the son of James William Johnson, Sr., and Laura Jane (née Fox). He married Norma Jean (née Marsolek) on May 7, 1955, in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Together they had three children; James W. Johnson III, Julie, and Jaynellen.
James served in the Army National Guard. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Math and Science at University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Trane Company, LaCrosse, WI, at a Micro Switch, Freeport, IL, a division of Honeywell. James was an avid stamp collector, having started his collecting at age 8 and continued his collection throughout his adult life. He was known to be a master gardener. Other hobbies included hunting, fishing, playing cards, and beekeeping.
James is survived by his two daughters; Julie (Michael) Jacobson, and Jaynellen (James) Holloway, both of Watertown, and grandchildren; Jaymes Holloway and Jayson (Morgan DeWall) Holloway.
James was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Betty and Jean; wife, Norma Jean, son, James W. Johnson, III.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Homes and Rainbow Hospice for their gentle caring and support of James. The family requests that memorials be made to Heritage Homes, Rainbow Hospice, or a charity of one's own choosing.
