James Andrew Johnson, 63, was carried home by the Lord, on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at his home after a 10-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Mr. Johnson passed away as he lived; gracefully and humbly, never giving voice to complaint or fear, and surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on June 8, 1962, in Pasadena, TX, he was son of the late Royce C. Johnson, Sr. and the late Arlene J. Ferretti Wallace. He was a graduate of Sam Houston State University; after college, Mr. Johnson traveled the country installing geosynthetics, where he made a multitude of memories and lifelong friends. Mr. Johnson was a man of faith; despite many health issues in his later years, he never stopped giving thanks to God for His grace, and he always remained filled with gratitude. Mr. Johnson was a man that emanated compassion; he was slow to anger, quick to mercy and forgiveness. He was a man of sharp wit and good humor. Most of all he was a good man, and his absence will be large in the lives of those he loved.
Survivors include two sons, Anthony Johnson (Ksenia) of Conway and Kaleb Johnson (Karen Cole) of Westminster; the mother of his children, Rhonda Kesler of Conway; two sisters, Darlene D. Strong of Pawleys Island, Vicki M. Delaney (Mark) of Little River; two brothers, Royce C. Johnson, Jr. (Linne) of Sparks, NV, Robert L. Johnson (Judy) of Pawleys Island; two very special cousins, Michael Johnson (Keely) of Pawleys Island and Pat Johnson (Hope) of El Paso, TX; one uncle, Anthony J. Ferretti, Jr. (Delfina) of Pacifica, CA; two aunts, Dolores Tatton of Pawleys Island and Linda Evans of Half Moon Bay, CA; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was preceded in death by an aunt, Eva Cabercias and a cousin, Cody Johnson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Pawleys Island Community Church.
