James (Jim) was born in Lindsay, California and grew up on a farm in Porterville, California where he attended and graduated from Porterville Union High School in 1965. Soon after High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served 4 years as a Medical Corpsman.
He met his wife Margie during his time in the Navy and they married in July of 1967 and the following year their daughter Linda-Beth was born.
After being discharged from the Navy, he returned to Porterville with his family for a short time and did Farm work until he was hired on with the Los Angeles Police Department as a Law Enforcement Officer.
He served 31 years as an officer and retired in 2001 with the Position of “Police III” (training officer). After retirement he resided in Monrovia, California for several years until recently moving to Lincoln County, Nevada. He had homes in Pioche, Nevada and Panaca, Nevada.
Jim is survived by his Stepmother: Juarene Jones, Stepsister: Sandra Burton, Wife: Margie Jones, Daughter: Linda-Beth Jones, Grandson: Dominick Campos and Companion/Caretaker: Denise Mathis.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Southern Nevada Mortuary. To view a livestream of the funeral service and send online condolences, please visit www.southernnevadamortuary.com.
