James Ronald Jones
October 29, 1943 – June 13, 2025
James "Jim" Ronald Jones, age 81, passed away June 13, 2025-most likely headed straight for a heavenly garage filled with antique cars, perfectly tuned BMW motorcycles, and a mandolin just waiting to be played.
Born on October 29, 1943 in Paoli, IN to Joseph "James" Jones and Golda Mae Slayton Jones. Jim was a proud Paolian who had very fond memories of growing up in a small town. His Paoli family ties go back to the settlement of Friends Meetinghouse at Beach Grove.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Joseph Lawrence Jones, and his sister Virginia Ruth Jones Wright.
Jim is survived by Caroline Sue Cox who was his high school sweetheart where they were prom King & Queen in 1962. They married on April 13, 1963. While their marriage took a detour, they reconnected later in life and were loving companions. Together, they raised their beloved son, James Darrin "Jimmie D" Jones, who survives him along with his wife Julia and their daughter, Haylee James Jones-Jim's pride and joy. He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews, and many friends.
A proud Mason for over 50 years, Jim lived by principles of loyalty, respect, and friendship.
Jim was a BMW man to his core. If it didn't have that blue and white roundel, he'd politely suggest you rethink your life choices. His love for motorcycles and antique cars wasn't just a hobby-it was a way of life. He logged thousands of miles traveling the country with his son. His garage was both his sanctuary and his playground, where tools and treasures lined the walls, and projects were only ever almost finished.
When he wasn't on the road, you could find Jim at a local restaurant, making friends with strangers or catching up with old friends. He had a deep love of music and could pick up just about any instrument-but the mandolin was his favorite. On quiet evenings, you'd hear him plucking a tune, feet tapping, head bobbing, with a full heart.
So here's to James Ronald Jones-companion, father, grandfather, rider, and musician. May the roads be smooth, the gas tanks full, and the mandolins always in tune.
Ride on, Jim. We'll see you down the road.
