James R. Jupiter, a proud Veteran, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025 in Burlington, NJ, surrounded by his loving family. James was born in Napoleonville, Louisiana, on June 1, 1937 to Robert and Gladys Jupiter. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the US Navy for three years and then enlisted in the US Army where he served for 26 years and rose to the rank of Sergeant Major. He was stationed in Germany where he met his wife, Hannelore, and they had four daughters. As a Veteran of the Army and Navy, James served his country with honor and integrity and received many medals and commendations for his service. After his military career, he worked as a Maintenance Supervisor at Ft. Dix for 20 years. He carried the values of duty, honor and service throughout his life. He was a man of quiet strength and enduring love and his gentle spirit and steady presence will be deeply missed.

James was a devoted husband to his wife and loving father to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren before God called him home. He was a living example of what a good man was. He was a hard worker, great provider for his family and an extraordinary role model for anyone who knew him. He was a man of high standards and would help anyone in any way he could and his kindness touched many people. James and his wife attended the Ft. Dix Chapel where he served as an usher for over 40 years.

James leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife of almost 60 years, Hannelore Jupiter, his daughters, Susanne McGuigan (Bob), Denise Jupiter, Shirley Jupiter and Roberta Tye, granddaughters Shannon McGuigan, Lauren McGuigan, and Janelle Jupiter and grandson, Terrell Jupiter, and great grandchildren, Jaylen McQuillar and Layla Joynes, and his sister, Willow Bea Claverie, along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives in Louisiana.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Gladys Jupiter, two brothers, Melvin Jupiter and Leonard Jupiter and four sisters, Ora Mae Jupiter, Eva May Jupiter, Diann Jupiter and Molly Brown.

A memorial service will be held at Moore Funeral Home in Browns Mills, NJ, on September 17, 2025. The viewing will be held from 10:00 am – 11:30 am, with the service to follow presided by Reverend Thuan Domski. Interment will follow at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
