James Melvin Keel, age 71, died August 30, 2025, following a long illness.
Born in Kountze, Texas, son of late father J.B. Keel, and late mother Anita Keel (Reed).
J.K. was a welder/fabricator by trade for many years, as well as an over the road truck driver.
J.K. enjoyed fishing, listening to old country music, riding his motorcycles, and spending time with his friends and family. J.K. always had a joke for anyone who came around and wanted to make those around him laugh. J.K. enjoyed his welding trade and took pride in his work for many years, he was always willing to help anyone who needed a hand whenever they needed it. Nothing meant more to J.K. than the love he had for his children, grandchildren and family and the time he was able to spend with them.
J.K. was preceded in death by sisters Jerry Keel, and Claire Stone.
He was survived by his daughters; Amie Sims (Cain) of Fruita CO, Deseree Bowman (Dustin) of Henry County KY. His son; Corey Keel of Carrollton KY, his siblings; June Collins (Jusin) of Newport NC, Robert Bradley (Dawn) of Crossville TN. As well as his grandchildren: Julia Principali (Brian) of Grand Junction CO, Charles Hockenhull (Lorraine) of Clifton CO, Damion Bond (Brittany), Emmie Bowman of Henry County KY, CJ Keel of Carrollton KY. He was also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and extended family as well as friends he has made over the years in his travels.
JK’s presence will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
