Robin Lee Cherp, 86, died peacefully at home in Crawford, Colorado on August 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with Parkinson’s and Lewy Body Dementia. Robin was born on June 13, 1939 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was the son of Donald Isadore and Roma Marie (Heiman) Cherp.

The family moved to Grand Junction when Robin was 15 years old. The hardest part of the move was having to relinquish his driver’s license until he turned 16. He attended Grand Junction High School and was in the first full-year senior class graduating from the “new” high school in 1957. He was a standout first team All State High School Football Center for the Grand Junction Tigers. He played football for the CU Buffaloes and made the first team as center in his sophomore year until he had a season ending injury. He enrolled in the United States Army in 1959. While stationed in Germany, Robin played football for the Army Guardians. He later finished his college education graduating from Western State College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966.

As a young man, Robin helped run the family bar, The Pad. Later, Robin was the sales and warehouse manager of the Coors Distributorship in Grand Junction, Colorado. Robin mentored many young employees at the Coors recycling center on Saturdays. He was admired for his work ethic, integrity, loyalty and strong values. He also was shipping and receiving manager at Grand Junction Pipe and Supply, both in Grand Junction and in the start-up years in Durango.

Robin was an active, dedicated member of the Grand Junction community. He was a member of the Grand Junction's Lions Club, where he served as President in 1981. He served as a Stephen Minister serving others who were in need. He also managed little league baseball for several seasons.

Robin was very dedicated to his family. He enjoyed the outdoors with his family and friends. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had a quiet, patient, caring demeanor. He enjoyed reading about history, books of faith, and he really enjoyed his daily walks. He was very close to his friends, even maintaining great friendships with high school friends. As a testament to his faith, in 1984, Robin decided to change his life by joining Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and become sober. He had 41 years of sobriety.

Robin is survived by his son, Yogi (Joanie), daughter, Debi Lowe, Sister Vicki (Tom) Waddill, and sister-in-law, Hart Cherp. Also, surviving are granddaughter, Cherie Hayes, and great-grandchildren, Braden and Bethany Hayes, along with many nieces and nephews. Robin was preceded in death by: his father, Donald; his mother, Roma; Brother Guy; and Sister Joy.

In memory of Robin, donations can be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, LBDA.org.

Services will be held at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Friday, September 26, at 1:00 p.m. with a celebration of life following the service to be announced at the end of the service.
