Mary Janet Maxwell, 95 years old, died March 7, 2026, following a brief illness.

She graduated from Glenwood High School in 1948, from the University of Nebraska in 1953 with a BS. She taught for a year and then went back to school and graduated from the University of Colorado with an MA in 1959.

After she graduated, she worked for the Girl Scouts Organization for 3 years and then went to work for the State of Colorado Social Security Disability office as a disability examiner and retired in 1985. Sometime after retirement Mary went to Portugal and taught English as a second language for several months.

Mary traveled quite a lot and visited the countries of Switzerland, Austria, France, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Portugal, Italy, Germany, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and England, sometimes with a group and sometimes alone. She visited the Holy Land twice.

Mary attended Clifton Christian Church and one of her fondest memories was meeting Corrie Ten Boom when she attended Calvary Temple in Denver. She was a member of PEO for 75+ years and was past president of a chapter in Denver.

Mary had many pets as a child, rabbits, guinea pigs, dogs, a raccoon but especially horses. They became her love and she had several, her last being Sky aka SkyWalker.

Mary was friendly, caring, generous and very intelligent. She had quite a sense of humor.

Mary never married and was preceded in death by her parents.
