James Kennedy Obituary

James "Jim" M. Kennedy, 82, of Norfolk, VA, passed away on August 18, 2023. He was born on September 18, 1940, in De Land, Illinois. Jim was a loving father and husband, survived by his wife Nancy Kennedy, his children Roger Kennedy (wife April), John Kennedy (wife Ginger), Christine Sharp (husband Roy), and Jeffrey Kennedy (wife Sandra), as well as 9 grandchildren (Erin, Patrick, Alex, Emily, Lindsay, Kandace, Jordyn, Brian, and Wyatt) and 5 great-grandchildren (Ava, Gage, Rylee, Luna, and Amber). He is also survived by his sister Judy Raymond.

Jim was preceded in death by his first wife Leahnor (June) Kennedy, son Patrick Kennedy, and son Brian Kennedy.

Jim proudly served in the U. S. Navy for 24 years, retiring as Chief Petty Officer. He also had a distinguished career as a manufacturer's representative for Northrup Grumman, where he worked on the Navy E-2 airplanes.

Jim was an avid coin collector, woodworker, and traveler. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the Venture Touring Society.

Jim worshipped at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where he often volunteered. Charitable donations may be made directly to the church.

A wake will be held on Thursday, August 24th, from 6 PM to 8 PM at Hollomon and Brown, 8464 Tidewater Drive, Norfolk. Funeral services will take place on Friday, August 25th, at 1 PM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 154 W. Government Avenue, Norfolk. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk.
