Jim was born August 11th, 1942, in
Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Ralph Klein and Mary Louise (Smith) Klein. Jim married Debbie Neff in 1962; they later divorced. He married Becky Weaver in 1988 in Iowa City.
Jim worked construction for a short time building Wellman School. He then built a career at Moore Business Forms (R.R. Donnelley), retiring in 2007 after working there for 46 years. Jim couldn't stay retired for long, returning to work at Menards full-time till 2023, working seasonally at UPS for several years, and farming at Lacina Farms.
Jim and Becky kept busy with their farm, too. They had an array of different farm animals over the years, including hogs, cows, horses, donkeys, llamas, goats, chickens, cats, dogs, and more. Jim loved animals, fishing, gardening, and, most of all, treasured being "Papa" to his grandchildren.
The family would like to extend thanks to the many friends and neighbors who have been supportive during this difficult time.
Jim is survived by his wife Becky, of West Branch; his sisters, Kathy (Ronnie) Rath and Joyce (Roger) Norris, and brothers Denny (Mary) Klein and Randy (Tina) Klein; and his children Timothy (Brenda) Klein of Missouri, Carrie Hanssen (Brad) of Blue Grass, Diane "Dee" Kohl of Solon, Traci Klein of Des Moines, Todd (Megan) Klein of Kansas, Cody (Sarah) Klein of Georgia, Glendon (Lindsay) Klein of West Branch. He is also survived by his grandchildren Dustin, Shannon, Jenna, Brandon, Shane, Matt, Nick, Tyler, Sam, Carissa, Mathew, Nathan, Raelynn, Karter, Leo, Endi, Luna, as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Verlon and Donallee Weaver, sisters, Carol Ann Klein and Joan (Terry) Hora, and brother Rick Klein.
