Obituary published on Legacy.com by Covington Funeral Home on Oct. 23, 2025.
James Malcolm Klenk, Jr., affectionately known to all as "Bubba," passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 22, 1944, in Millington, Tennessee, and spent his life rooted in hard work, family, and integrity.
Bubba was the devoted husband of Betty Klenk, and together they built a beautiful life centered on love, laughter, family & friends. He was the proud father of Jamie Klenk Mathis (Ricky), Amie Klenk Helton (Keith), Kelly Klenk Shurley (Rob), and Jimbo Klenk (Aleshia). His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren - Slade Mathis (Caitlin), Cory Mathis (Melissa), Zack Mathis (Kristin) - Carlee Graham, Bailee Webb, Charlie Klenk, Jake Bradley, Blaze Klenk, Tinleigh Klenk, Auvic White, and his beloved great-grandchildren, Calli Mathis, Kenzie Mathis, Kealyn Mathis, Ridge Graham, and Bailyn Bowen.
There is no doubt Bubba loved his children more than anything, but his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly his world. He wanted to know every detail of their lives - every game, story, and success - even if he occasionally got the story a little mixed up when retelling it to someone else. Those moments brought laughter and warmth to everyone who knew him.
Bubba was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Mae and James Malcolm Klenk, Sr., along with five sisters and one brother. His youngest sister, Sally, entered into heaven within 30 minutes of him on that same day - a tender reunion that brought the family comfort. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Klenk, and his brother, George Klenk.
Bubba was, in every sense, the hardest working man you could ever meet. He dedicated his life to the automotive world - working on cars, selling cars, and knowing just about everything there was to know about an engine. His hands were seldom still, and his work ethic was unmatched. He was respected for his honesty, loyalty, and the pride he took in a job well done. He loved his side hustle working for A+Towing and selling his metal buildings.
Though he didn't attend church regularly, Bubba held a deep belief in God and lived his life with honesty, humility, and strength. He was the steady center of his family - the one they could count on for wisdom, a quick grin, and a story from days gone by.
He leaves behind a lifetime of memories, lessons, and love that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 26 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in Magnolia Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 25 at the funeral home.
