James Walter Knapp

James Walter Knapp, 83, of Avoca, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022, in the comfort of his family's home.
He was born in Yale, September 10, 1939, the son of the late Walter and Loretta (Hilliker) Knapp.
His marriage to Ruthann Harvey was March 7, 1960, in Capac. Ruthann "Annie" passed away February 3, 2014, after 52 years of marriage.
"Jim" attended Yale Public Schools and later received his G.E.D. at age 40. He had attended Yale United Methodist Church. Jim worked as a custodian for 25 years at Yale schools and St. Augustine Catholic School until his second retirement in 2009. Jim enjoyed traveling to Indiana and Ohio with his wife and had been a Notary Public for 18 years. He had raised pigeons and horses and enjoyed hunting deer and rabbits, fishing and cutting wood to heat his home.
Surviving are there three children, James (Theresa) of Port Huron, Mark (Lisa) of Yale and Heidi (Chris) Ames of Port Huron; 10 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; three siblings, Gail (John) Welsh of Peck, Gwen Gassel of Port Huron and Jerry Knapp of Croswell, as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Byrnes and Margaret Green.
Arrangements entrusted to Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale. Inurnment will be in Ruby Cemetery.
