Michael James Owens

Michael James Owens, 61, of Yale, passed away after a brief illness on Monday, March 2, 2026, at McLaren Macomb Hospital.

He was born May 21, 1964, in Melvin, the son of the late James and Linda (Perry) Owens.

Mike married Tina Bartley on September 4, 1999, in Melvin.

Mike was a 1982 graduate of Yale High School. He was a tried-and-true Yale Resident working at the Yale Feed and Seed Store for 15 years, the Yale Hardware store for 7 years, Yale Public Schools for 7 years, and most recently at S&B Industries for 6 months. Mike loved hunting, fishing and 4-wheeling. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and co-chaired the Yale Food Pantry. He also coached ladies' softball with his father. Mike was always willing to help those around him and will be remembered for his true kindness.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Tina together for 38 years, are a daughter, Amber (Fiancé Cody) Bartley; a son, Mike (Fiancée Shelby) Owens; a granddaughter, Emilee; a sister, Brenda Owens; his father-in-law, Gerald Bartley; a nephew, Steven Jones, as well as many cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law, Maureen Bartley.

The family honors the memory of Michael and invites you to a Rite of Christian Burial on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yale, with 9:30 a.m. visiting. Fr. Tom Kuehnemund will officiate. A luncheon will follow at the Parish Hall.
