James V. Lancour, age 76, of Negaunee Township, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2025 at home in the loving care of his wife, family and UP Home Health and Hospice, following a brief illness.
Jim was born June 3, 1948 in Marquette, the son of Richard Lancour and Jean (Richmond) Edes.
Jim graduated from Boys Technical High School in Milwaukee, Class of 1966, and went on to attend Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC). He apprenticed at Allis Chalmers in Milwaukee prior to returning to Michigan where he was employed as an electrician by Cleveland Cliffs. He retired from the Empire Mine with more than 30 years of service. Jim then worked for Malton Electric for many years before permanently retiring.
Family and friends meant the world to Jim, but nothing could put a huge smile on his face like a classic car. He loved working on cars and was very involved with the local classic car community, including pasty club car gatherings.
Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Arlene (Pitkamaki); two sons: Jeff (Laura) and Steve Lancour; grandchildren: Natasha (Jason) Marietti, Kayti Lancour, Kurtis (Katherine) Snell, Megan (Ken) Snell, Jordyn Snell (Brandon Talus), and three great-grandchildren; sister, Tina Patient; brothers: Rick (Donna), Buck (Alice), Dennis (Cindy), and Bob (Linda); sisters-in-law: Joan Lancour, Mary Ann Laukka, Barbara (George) Tyner, Carol (David) Fleck; brother-in-law, Ray (Tara) Pitkamaki; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe; niece, Teri; and brother-in-law, Carl Laukka.
Honoring Jim's request, a Celebration of Life will be held in the Summer. His memorial page may be viewed at koskeyfuneralhome.com.
