James Gerald Lann, 76, of Milan, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, October 24, 2024. He was a cherished member of his community and a beacon of kindness to all who knew him Born on Wednesday, September 29, 1948, in McRae, Georgia, Gerald's life was marked by his dedication to his family, his work, and his unwavering faith.
He grew up in the warmth of southern Georgia, where he was deeply loved by his parents, Elzie James and Lillie Mae Cravey Lann, who preceded him in death, along with his sister, Javene Reaves, and his aunt, Eva Mae Harrell.
In his professional journey, he dedicated many years to the State of Georgia Department of Corrections. Gerald's passion for service was evident in his faithful volunteer work with the Christian Life Center in Eastman, McRae Manor Nursing Home Ministry, and Bridges of Hope Rehab Ministry. His selfless contributions to these organizations reflected his belief in the power of giving back to the community.
He is survived by his Sister -Martha Garrett (Charles) of Cochran; Nieces and Nephews - Kathryn Yawn (Tommy Steverson), Kristina McClements (Richard), Kelly Reaves (Nina), Charlie Garrett (Kelli), Deana Miller (Darrell), and Kenny Cravey (Tammy); Great Nieces and Nephews - Jenna Spires (Joshua), Matthew Yawn (Ashley), Brendon Yawn, Alexandria McClements, Lillian McClements, Jessica Davies (Cameron), Kelsey Reaves, Allie Reaves, Greyson Garrett, Zane Garrett, Ryder Garrett, Tyce Garrett, Alex Miller (Morgan), Nickolas Miller, Aidan (Kendall) Miller, Ansley Miller, Natalie Miller, Tristan Cravey, Reese, Harprit, and Branson; Great-Great-Nieces and Nephews - Sadie Charlene Spires, Cash Yawn, Morgan Yawn, Annie Mae Miller; Special siblings - Belinda Thomas, Billy Harrell, and Winky Lann (Connie); Step-Children - Sheritha Thomas, Wil Jones (Molly), Ben Jones (Jada), Maggie Jones; Step-Grandchildren - Annabell Jones, Emerson Jones, Piper Jones, Harper Jones, Walker Jones, Faith Harrison, Charlee Harrison; Special Cousins - Michael Thomas (Jill), Tamara Allen (Jeff), Benjamin Thomas, Hannah Grace Thomas, and Walker Allen.
The family will receive friends at Lowes Funeral Home on Sunday, October 27 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 28 at 3:00 PM at Milan Baptist Church. Rev. Aubrey Corbitt will officiate, assisted by Mike Grenade. The interment will take place at Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family may be contacted at 340 Mt. Zion St., Milan, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Milan Baptist Church Shoe Box Ministry or the Playground Fund at P.O. Box 157 Milan, GA 31060.
