LEEDS- James P. Laptewicz, 68, passed away at his home in Leeds, with his loving wife, Kathryn (Stevens) Laptewicz, by his side. He was born and raised in Southborough, MA, on July 13, 1957, to the late Walter and Josephine (Zarba) Laptewicz.

Jim attended public schools in Southborough and graduated from Algonquin High School, in Northborough, class of 1975. He relocated to Naples, FL, and immediately began his career at Pizza Hut.

After a short period in Florida, Jim relocated to Marlborough, MA, where he received his first promotion as a manager at Pizza Hut. He was selected by the company to open a new location in Brockton, MA before soon being promoted again to district supervisor in Central Massachusetts.

Jim relocated to Augusta, in 1981 where he was the manager at the Augusta Pizza Hut. Shortly after, he left the business and transferred to Damariscotta Hannaford where he served as the grocery manager where he learned different vending routes, before venturing on his own. Jim eventually purchased a Pepperidge Farm business in 2005, serving the Central Maine area.

This was the same year he met his wife Kathy, and they married in 2006.

After 14 years of being a business owner, he sold his business and retired to his home on the lake in 2019.

In his free time, Jim deeply enjoyed time spent with his family, especially his 8 beautiful grandchildren. He also enjoyed golfing, playing the drums, long rides on his motorcycle, days spent out on the lake on his boat, scaled motor racing, woodworking and so much more.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his son-in-law Joshua Seal.

Jim is survived by his wife, Kathy, his children, Angela Laptewicz, Jason Laptewicz and wife Caitlin, and Elizabeth Seal. As well as his stepchildren, Ryan Bean, and Cory Bean and his wife Danielle. His grandchildren, Jayson, Sephine, Jarrod and Jaxton Seal, Juliette, and Jenson Laptewicz, Atticus Ernst and Camden Bean. His siblings, Joanne Ryan and husband Jim, Walter Laptewicz and wife Nancy, Robert Laptewicz and wife Janice, and Donna Delustro and husband Lou. As well as many extended family members and close friends.

Jim's celebration of life will be held on Sunday October 19th from 1-4PM at the Governor Hill Mansion, 136 State Street, Augusta. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Glioblastoma Foundation, PO Box 62066 Durham, NC 27715 or Glioblastoma Foundation.org

Jim wanted to leave you with one of his favorite quotes, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans"

Jimmy and I grew up in Southborough across the street from one another. We spent many happy hours playing in his family's gardens, riding bikes, sledding at his grandfather's farm and sitting at the kitchen table playing board games. Thank you for those precious childhood memories, dear friend!
