Mr. James Albert Lassiter, a dedicated Truck Driver whose earthly journey began on October 29, 1936, and came to a peaceful close on August 10, 2024. He was cherished by his family and friends and will be forever remembered for the love he shared.
James was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Mary Lassiter, and together, they created a beautiful family and a nurturing, loving home. James was also preceded in death by his parents, Beulah and Calvin Lassiter, his brothers: Charlie Lassiter and David Lassiter, A.G. Lassiter and Calvin Lassiter, as well as his sisters, Maxine Keeler, MaryAnne Cormier, Catherine "Sister" Killebrew, and Cora-Lee Twiner. Also, his bonus daughter, Ann Royer, sons-in-law, David Sanders and Gerald Odom, and his daughter-in-law, Phyllis Lassiter.
James was a man of honor who served his country with pride in the U. S. Air Force. His dedication to his military service reflected his commitment to duty and country.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara Lassiter, his daughters, Terry Odom of Moss Point Mississippi, Pam Bryant and her husband, Gary, of Kountze, Texas, Tangie Shelton of Vidor, Texas, a son, Mike Lassiter and his wife, Kim of Spurger, Texas, and bonus daughters, Cindy Sanders of Vidor, Texas, Jamie Essex and her husband, Chris of Vidor, Texas and Laurie Philpott and her husband Clarence of Bridge City, Texas. He will be greatly missed by his numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He will be remembered fondly by several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Outside of his professional endeavors, James found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved to fish, finding peace by the water's edge. His compassionate nature extended to caring for wildlife, he was an avid birdwatcher, and delighted in feeding them and the squirrels. The meticulous care he poured into his yardwork, particularly mowing the lawn, showcased his pride in his home and surroundings.
A visitation to honor the memory of James Albert Lassiter will be held on August 14, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, TX. Following the visitation, a Funeral Service will be conducted from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location, where family and friends will gather to pay their final respects.
As we bid farewell to James, let us hold dear the memories we shared with him and find comfort in knowing that his legacy of love and kindness will live on. Rest in peace, Mr. Lassiter, for your spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who were touched by your presence.
