Jim peacefully completed his journey of life on November 10, 2025, surrounded by the love of his life and his devoted daughter. He was born June 25, 1945, in Springfield, MA to Ada (Sadler) and George Liamis. A graduate of Agawam High School, he grew up in Feeding Hills, MA before moving to Suffield, CT in adulthood. Jim was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Gail and Floyd.
He leaves behind his wife Donna (Montemagni), with whom he shared 47 years of unconditional love. He will be missed dearly by everyone who knew him; this profound loss is especially significant for his only child Donna Liamis and her fiancé Tommy Favreau of Southwick, MA. He also leaves behind his precious granddaughters, Christina Roberts and Samantha (Roberts) Mastromatteo and great-grandsons, Jovani and Jason Mastromatteo; in addition to his feathered companion Zeeza who remained by his side for the past 17 years.
Jim found his passion in trucking at an early age, transitioning to becoming an owner-operator after starting L&J Leasing Corporation in 1976. He enjoyed a successful career driving only MACK trucks until his health had other plans and he was no longer able to drive just shy of his 80th birthday.
In 2015, he purchased a 1974 Brockway that he meticulously restored, opening doors to the close-knit Brockway community of Cortland, NY. He enjoyed traveling and displaying his pride and joy at truck shows across the Northeast.
Jim was a NASCAR fan who enjoyed modified racecar at Riverside racetrack in Agawam, MA every Saturday night up until its closure in 1999. His passion was his family, he loved his wife beyond measure and enjoyed birdwatching in their travels together. He will be missed by so many people including cousins, nieces and friends as the loss of this remarkable man is profound.
To honor and celebrate the life of James "Jim" Liamis please join his loved ones for calling hours from 4-7PM on Friday, November 14, 2025 at Colonial Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 985 Main St., Agawam, MA. Family and friends are also invited to join one another for a funeral home service honoring Jim at 10AM on Saturday, November 15th at the funeral home. There will be a calling hours from 9-10AM prior to the service Saturday. Interment will follow in Springfield Street Cemetery, Feeding Hills, MA.
