Funeral services for Mr. James A. Little age 89, of Ashland, will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Reverend Ben Rosser officiating. Burial will follow in the Clay County Memory Gardens.

Mr. Little passed away on August 14, 2025 at his residence. He was born in Equality, Alabama and graduated from Rockford High School. Shortly after high school Mr. Little Joined the U.S. Navy and served four years in the Pacific Fleet aboard the heavy cruiser, USS Bremerton, as a Machinist Mate. After his military service he worked in metal fabrication in Montgomery and later owned and operated his own welding business in Alexander City. James and his family moved to Clay County in 1972 and loved spending time here and on Lake Martin. He established "Littles Exxon" in Ashland in 1989. James loved working with his hands with metal or wood and spending time on the water. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ashland.

Survivors include his daughter Janet Little Reynolds (Garey) of Ashland, his son; Fritz Little of Ashland, daughter in law; Dana Little of Alexander City, six grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, plus a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; James Asa Little Sr. and Mae Willingham Little, his wife of nearly 60 years; Ruth Towns Little, his sons; Glenn Little and infant Gregory Little, his sister; May Little Kirkland and his brother; Johnny Little.

Pallbearers will be Greg Reynolds, Sam Jones, Chance Jones, Garey Reynolds, Charlie Alvarez, and Bob Allen.

The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland on Sunday August 17, 2025 from 1:30 P.M. until service time at 3:00.

FLOWERS WILL BE ACCEPTED, HOWEVER THE FAMILY PREFERS THE DONATIONS BE MADE TO HOSPICE OF CLAY COUNTY at P.O. Box 1270 Ashland, Al. 36251
