Obituary of James E. Livingston Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends. View Tribute Book James Elvin Livingston, 73, of La Porte, went peacefully home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 28, 2025.James was born in Lamesa, Texas on May 22, 1952, to Adron Elvin Livingston and Bille Upchurch Livingston. He was a native of Schriever, Louisiana and a resident of La Porte, Texas.James is survived by his wife of 51 years, Frankie Brown Livingston of La Porte; his mother, Billie Jean Upchurch Livingston; brother, Jeff Livingston (Wendy); sister, Julia Livingston; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Adron Elvin (Sonny) Livingston.James graduated from Terrebonne High School, Houma Louisiana, in 1970. He earned his associate degree from Nichols State University, Thibodaux Louisiana, on May 13th, 1978. He completed his Master of Business Administration, February 1990, from California Coast University at Santa Anna, California."God Family and Country" was his lifelong motto. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps, in Camp Pendleton California. Jim was honorably discharged on December 13, 1974. Sergeant Livingston did two tours of duty in Vietnam and received these honors, Rifle Expert Badge, Pistol Expert Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Letter of Commendation, Presidential Unit Citation and Good Conduct Medal. He was also stationed on the U.S.S. Constellation as a Rifle Instructor at Camp Pendelton California.Jim's hobbies included reading, writing, studying the Bible, writing computer programs and working in the yard. He published two adolescent non-fiction novels: "The Wishing Well" and "The Winter Stranger", a sequel. The Wishing Well was featured as a 6 week study course in La Porte High School English Classes. Meeting with the students at the end of the course was perhaps the highlight of his writing career.Although he may be gone from this world his legacy lives on through the lives he touched. We carry his memory with us and it brings comfort to know that so much of him is alive in friends and family. James will be forever missed by family and friends.Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:13)A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday September 13 at 2:00 PM at Clayton Funeral Home, 201 S 3rd St. La Porte, TX.
