He married Carol J. Duncan on August 14, 1991, in Las Vegas, NV. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2005. He then married Lesa Nugent on August 2, 2022. She survives. He was born on December 8, 1953, in Kankakee, IL, the son of Vernon and Gertrude Hamann Lotiz.
He is survived by his wife; Lesa Loitz of Grant Park, IL. His daughter, Pamela (Edgar) Cruz of Siloam Springs, AK. His step-son; Josef and Kate Wehlauch of Grant Park, IL, two step-daughters; Sheila (Rory) Hertzberg of Limestone, IL, and Krista (Jason) Martin of Grant Park, IL. Two grandchildren; Asher and Vivienne Cruz. Also surviving are six step-grandchildren; Annaliese Martin, Evelyn Martin, Aubrey Wehlauch, Emma Wehlauch, Sophia Wehlauch, and Kennedi Hertzberg. He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers; John Loitz and William Loitz.
James was a local farmer. He enjoyed fishing and bird watching. You could find him often driving his truck "making rounds" and enjoyed working with his hands.
Cremation rites have been accorded and no services will be held per the request of James.
