James M. Luffey, age 77, of McMurray, passed away unexpectedly on October 31, 2025.

Born on May 30, 1948, he was the son of the late James and Ruth Luffey.

Beloved husband of the late Karen Ambrass Luffey; loving father of Patricia (James) Hyde and Susan Mbah; cherished grandfather of Cameron and Connor Hyde and Victoria, Madison, Chase Mbah; dear brother of Edward (Janice) Luffey, Ronald Luffey and Donald (Michelle) Luffey; uncle to many nieces and nephews; also survived by his faithful dog, Cooper. James will also be missed by friend William Barker.

James was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, serving his country from 1968 to 1974, and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. Following his military service, he enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as an accountant with Mellon Bank, where he worked for over 25 years.

Above all, James was a devoted family man who took great joy in supporting his grandchildren. He could always be found in the stands at their sporting events, cheering them on with pride and love. His kindness, steady presence, and warm heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 12:00 pm at St. Benedict the Abbot, 120 Abington Dr., McMurray, PA 15317. A private burial will follow at The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
