James Lumpp Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Caring Cremations - Chicago on Dec. 27, 2025.
James Edward Lumpp Sr., age 78, of Arlington Heights, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on December 1, 2025.
Born in Scottsdale, Arizona, to Stanley and Virginia Lumpp, James built a successful career as a public accountant, taking great pride in establishing and running his own practice.
Outside of his professional life, James found his true joy in the world of motorsports. He possessed a deep passion for motorcycles and flat track racing, drawn to the speed, skill, and camaraderie that defined the sport. The Indianapolis 500 held a special place in his heart; he made it a point to attend whenever possible, soaking in the roar of the engines and the electric atmosphere of race day. Whether riding his own motorcycle or watching from the infield at the Brickyard, James was happiest when the nitromethane was burning and the wheels were turning.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Virginia Lumpp; his brothers, Stanley Jr. and Michael; and his sister, Elizabeth.
He is survived by his two sons, Dana Lumpp of Nicholasville, Kentucky and James Lumpp Jr. of Georgetown, Kentucky.
Service Information: A celebration of life will be held in Spring 2026.
Memorial Contributions: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the AARP Foundation.
