James Luscaleet Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home - Richwood on Dec. 9, 2025.
James "Jim" Russell Luscaleet, age 75 of Richwood, passed away Monday December 8, 2025 surrounded by his family and close friends at the Kobacker Hospice Hospital in Columbus. He was born on March 3, 1950 in Galion to the late Dale Richard and Jean Elaine (Harsh) Luscaleet. Jim lived a life defined by hard work, community, loyalty, and deep devotion to the people he cared for most.

Jim was an unwavering fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Traveling and sharing time with family and friends were among the greatest pleasures of his life. His warm smile, sharp wit, and generous heart made him someone people naturally gravitated toward.

For more than 30 years, Jim owned and operated the Richwood Cardinal, a business that became a cornerstone of the community under his leadership. He was also a dedicated, longtime member of VFW Post 870 in Richwood, where he served as a significant contributor and loyal supporter. Beyond his regular involvement, Jim poured countless hours into improving the VFW, remodeling the building, constructing a new bar, expanding membership, and helping to modernize the organization for future generations. His steady leadership, vision, and tireless work helped strengthen the VFW as a gathering place for Veterans and the Richwood community, leaving a lasting impact that will be remembered for years to come.

Jim's greatest pride was his family. He leaves behind his loving children: Vickie Maruniak (Scott) of Ostrander, Theresa Temple (Bill) of Richwood and Sondra Taylor (Scott) of Richwood.

He was a proud grandfather to Jordan Ellwood (Josh), Devon Taylor, Jacob Shuster, Ashley Bateman, Tiffany Davis (Tim), Connor Maruniak, Kierstan Hart (Drew), Mackenzie Justin (Kole), Casey Maruniak, Zane Temple, and Blaine Maruniak.

He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren who brought him so much joy: Landon Davis, Cohen Hart, and Mila Ellwood.

Jim is survived by former wife Denice Morley, his sister Sandy Finley (Pete) of Leesburg, Ohio and a sister-in-law, Anita Luscaleet of Galion. He was preceded in death by his brother Dick Luscaleet and his sister Linda Heminger (Butch).

Throughout his life, Jim touched countless lives with his kindness, dependability, and unwavering determination. Whether through his business, his work with the VFW, or his friendships, he made a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him.

He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever cherished.

Funeral services celebrating Jim's life will be held Friday December 12, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood. Pastor Joseph Rhea will officiate. Friends may call Thursday from 4-7pm at the funeral home in Richwood.
